In 2007, in the heart of Brittany, we created a cooperative with strong, unique strategic values. Our activities are based exclusively onorganically grown products. Specializing in potatoes, root vegetables and potato plants, our ambition is to develop a cooperative organization system throughout Brittany, bringing together players from upstream to downstream around socially useful economic projects.
Why? For our planet, for our farmers, for our fellow citizens, and most of all for our children.

A Cooperative Society for Collective Interest (Scic)
The food we eat every day requires a relatively long and complex production chain, known as an agricultural "filière". At one end of this "thread" you have the market, which dictates prices, and at the other you have the farmer, who has to accept, more or less, the result of the subtraction between the final selling price to the consumer and the intermediaries' margins. This economic model leads many farmers to live below the poverty line, and discourages young farmers.
To break with this suicidal mechanism, the founders of Douar Den decided to bring all the players together around the same table. The aim is to give the farmer back his place and to put the calculation of value back on the right track, using the "bottom-up construction of prices, based on production costs" method. We start at the beginning, with the farmer, and integrate his costs and remuneration into the value of the product.
The SCIC status enables us to involve all the players and guarantee fair representation for everyone.
